2017-18 Season

November 11-12, 2017

Great American Mock Trial Invitational: Wesleyan Mock Trial competed at the Great American Mock Trial Invitational in Washington, D.C.! We enjoyed the competitive field and had a successful showing. Zenzele Price won an award for her outstanding performance as a prosecution attorney and Heather Pincus won an attorney award for her outstanding performance as a defense attorney (25 ranks each).

 

Hooter Invitational: Wesleyan Mock Trial sent another team to the Hooter Invitational in Philadelphia. WesMock came in 2nd, winning 6 ballots. Nell Buechler won an award for her outstanding performance as a prosecution attorney (20 ranks), and Tess Vartanian won an award for her outstanding performance as a defense attorney (18 ranks). Will Dempsey won an award for his outstanding performance as a prosecution witness (18 ranks), and Nell Buechler won an award for her outstanding performance as a defense witness (18 ranks).

October 14-15, 2017

Guardian Invitational: Wesleyan Mock Trial sent a team of all new members (except for one prosecution attorney!) to compete at the Guardian Invitational, hosted by the Coast Guard Academy. Wesleyan finished in first place with an undefeated 8-0-0 record.

 

2016-17 Season

April 21-23, 2017

33rd National Championship: Wesleyan's A team traveled across the country to Los Angeles, CA, to compete alongside the top 48 teams in the country. These teams were divided into two divisions with 24 teams each. There, Wesleyan placed 7th in its division and tied for 13th overall with a record of 7-5-0. This marks it as one of the top 15 teams in the country this year. Roman Darker won an award for his outstanding performance as a plaintiff witness. Full results here.

 

March 18-19, 2017

Central Islip Opening Round Championship Series: Wesleyan sent two stacked teams to compete at the Central Islip Opening Round Championships. This was the first time Wesleyan was able to send two teams to ORCS. There, out of the 24 teams that competed, Wesleyan's A team placed 5th with a record of 5-2-1 and earned the school's first bid to Nationals. Wesleyan's B team placed 14th with a record of 3-5-0. Tess Vartanian won an award for her outstanding performance as a witness on the B team's plaintiff side. Erica Arensman won awards for her outstanding performance as an A team plaintiff attorney and defense witness. Full results here.

 

February 11-12, 2017

Regionals: Wesleyan sent three stacked teams to compete at Regionals in two locations: Fordham University in New York and Yale University in New Haven.

New Haven: Wesleyan's A team won a bid to Opening Round Championship Series and its B team's strong record later won it an open bid to the same ORCS. Out of the 28 teams competing, Wesleyan's A team placed 4th with a record of 6-2-0 and its B team placed 7th with a record of 4-2-2. Molly Muoio won an award for her outstanding performance as an A team defense witness and Erica Arensman won an award for her outstanding performance as an A team plaintiff attorney. New York: Out of the 28 teams competing, Wesleyan's C team placed 13th with a record of 4-4-0. This was the first time Wesleyan has fielded a C team. Full results here.

 

December 2-4, 2016 

21st Annual Yale Mock Trial Invitational: Wesleyan rounded out its fall season with its second showing in the B-division of an invitational tournament at Yale University. It sent a mixed team. Out of the 20 competing teams in its division, Wesleyan placed 13th with a 3-5-0 record. Zenzele Price won an award for her outstanding performance as a plaintiff witness. Full results here.

 

November 19-20, 2016

11th Annual Justice Louis D. Brandeis Invitational: Wesleyan sent another mixed team to Brandies University to compete at an invitational tournament. Of the 20 teams present, Wesleyan placed 16th with a 2-6-0 record. Zenzele Price won an award for her outstanding performance as a defense attorney. Full results here.

 

 

October 15-16, 2016

Guardian Invitational: Wesleyan sent a mixed team of novices and returners to compete at an invitational tournament hosted by Coast Guard Academy. Of the eight teams present, Wesleyan placed 4th with a 4-2-2 record. Victoria Hammitt and Nat Warner won awards for their outstanding performance as plaintiff attorneys. Full results here.

 

2015-16 Season

March 19-20, 2016

Wilmington Opening Round Championships: Wesleyan A competed in ORCS at the University of Delaware Law School. Out of the 24 teams present, Wesleyan placed 11th. Zenzele Price won an award for her outstanding performance as a prosecution attorney. Full results here.

 

February 20-21, 2016

New Haven Regionals: Wesleyan sent two stacked teams to compete at the 2015-16 regional qualifying tournament. This tournament had the largest field of competitors of any regional tournament that year, and was the only tournament in AMTA history where a 6-0-2 record would not guarantee a team advancement to the next round of competition. Wesleyan B had a strong showing and placed 14 out of the 32 total teams. Wesleyan A placed 9th, tying its win/loss records with three other teams but losing to them on competitor strength. Wesleyan A was put on the open bid list and received an invitation to the next round of competition within a week. Erica Arensman won an award for her outstanding performance as a witness on the defense. Full results here.

 

December 5-6, 2015

Yale Invitational: Wesleyan sent a team of mixed new members and returners to compete in the 20th annual Yale Invitational where we placed 5th in the second division based on weighted partial-ballots and 3rd based solely on partial-ballots. Full results here.

Hawk Invitational: Wesleyan sent a team of almost entirely first-year mockers to compete in the Hawk Invitational, where they were recognized for their good sportsmanship and embodiment of the ideals of competition with the Spirit of AMTA Award. Full results here.

 

November 7-8, 2015

Hooter Invitational: Wesleyan sent a team of two returners and four first-year college mockers to the Hooter Invitational in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Despite competing against three of the top-five finishers--including the first and second placed teams--Wesleyan came away with an impressive 4-4 record and Zenzele Price won a top attorney award.

 

2014-15 Season

March 7-8, 2015

San Diego Opening Round Championship Series: Wesleyan send eight team members to the West Coast to compete at the San Diego ORCS. There, Wesleyan placed ninth amid a tough competitive field and Erica Arensman won an award for her performance as a witness. Full results here.

 

January 30-February 1, 2015

Manchester Regionals: Wesleyan competed at the Manchester Regionals tournament, where it received an honorable mention for its competitive success and Erica Arensman received a top attorney award. There, Wesleyan became one of only three schools to take any part of a ballot award from Harvard A, the eventual national champions. Full results here.
